The Government of India has allocated Rs 120 billion towards the expansion and modernization of railway infrastructure in the northeastern region of the country. This funding will support the development of the first-ever Bhutan-India railway link, connecting Kokrajhar in Assam to Gelephu in Sarpang, Bhutan. The project, with an estimated cost of Rs 10 billion, is expected to be completed by 2026.
